Summerfield FL Man Accused of Molesting Two Girls 8 and 11

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 41-year-old Summerfield, FL man Wednesday charging him with capital sexual battery and possession of child pornography. He allegedly molested two girls ages 8 and 11.

Deputies picked the man up in Ocala during a traffic stop. He was taken to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office where he was questioned by a detective. The man allegedly admitted to the official that he had molested the children.

Officials evidently found several images of child pornography on a flash drive that belonged to the man.

He was arrested and transported to Marion County jail.

The penalties for sexual battery in Florida waiver depending on several elements, the age of the defendant, the age of the victim and the manner in which the sex crime was conducted. Any injuries inflicted on a victim also play a role in deciding the potential sentence a defendant is facing. An individual faces a capital sexual battery conviction if he or she is over the age of 18 and commits a sexual battery against a person less than 12 years of age and happens to injure the sexual organs of a victim during the period the crime took place. A person under the age of 18 that performs the exact same offense with the same injuries could be sentenced to a life term in prison. A life sentence can also be given to a person who commits sexual battery against a victim over the age of 12 and uses or threatens to use a deadly weapon or physical force. A defendant that threatens a victim, but does not use violence likely to cause severe injuries faces a first degree felony with a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison. When no force or threats of violence are used during a sex crime, prosecutors will charge the crime as a second degree felony.
