Pinellas Park Teen Facing Serious Sex Crimes Charges

A Pinellas Park teen has been accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy at least a dozen times, according to police.

The alleged abuse started when the boy was 11.

The 18-year-old faces charges of lewd and lascivious battery, lewd and lascivious exhibition and promoting sexual activities by a child.

Investigators claim the case came to their attention on Monday after speaking with the alleged victim and his mother.

The teen is being held at the Pinellas County Jail on $130,000 bail.

According to arrest affidavits, the teen is accused of showing the boy pornography at least once and fondling the boy multiple times. According to police, the abuse began the week before Christmas and was discovered by the victim’s mother on Jan. 30.

Investigators claim the teen confessed in an interview Tuesday. They also said that more charges are likely. No further information was immediately available.
