Orlando Man Charged with Video Voyeurism Again

An Orlando, Florida man has been arrested by Orange County police for using his cell phone to take video up a woman’s skirt at a Home Depot store. He has a prior arrest for a similar incident at the Home Depot, but was released on bond.

Orange County deputies arrested the man after store security footage taken on January 6 at a Super Target connected the man to the crime.

According to police reports, the man allegedly dropped his cell phone with the video camera on into his basket and carried it around the store standing behind unsuspecting women. Target security noticed the man’s actions, confronted him and asked him to leave. He was never arrested for this alleged incident.

Deputies said that the Orlando man was caught by another man at Home Depot on February 27 taking pictures up his wife’s skirt.

The man was arrested Thursday and charged with video voyeurism for the events at the Super Target. He has been released from jail on a $2,500 bond and a judge ordered condition that he stays away from video recording equipment and devices.

With the incorporation of cameras and numerous recording devices into cell phones and the endless Internet technologies available to all, video voyeurism has become a common way to take advantage of those that would not approve of being photographed or a recorded in an indecent manner. In the state of Florida, voyeurism is considered illegal with or without the use of devices that can record, transmit or store images of another person.

A person commits the offense of voyeurism when he or she secretly observes another person with lewd, lascivious, or indecent intent while the other person or party is situated in a dwelling, structure, or conveyance that provides a sensible level of privacy. A first-time conviction of voyeurism is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a maximum of one year in jail and a fine of no more than $1,000. Any succeeding conviction is a third-degree felony, which is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years and a maximum fine of $5,000.
