Uf Quarterback Accused of Sexual Assault

University of Florida backup quarterback Treon Harris was suspended from all team activities earlier this month after a female student told police the man sexually assaulted her in a dorm, according to reports.

The freshman football player is cooperating with the investigation. He has also been suspended from campus.

UF and the University Athletic Association is also cooperating with the investigation, according to a statement from the university press office.

“We have no tolerance for sexual assault on our campus,” UF President Bernie Machen said.

According to university police, The UF student reported that she was assaulted by Harris before dawn on Sunday, just a day after the freshman football player led the Gators to a comeback victory against Tennessee.

University police enlisted the help of the Gainesville city police department’s forensic crime unit to collect evidence.

No formal charges have been filed at this point.

Harris has since been reinstated.
