A Tampa police officer was arrested and charged with sexual battery Thursday morning.
The officer, a 12-year veteran of the police force, is accused of raping a woman he pulled over for speeding on Feb. 1. The alleged victim was in her 20s.
The officer denied the woman’s accusations. He was fired March 4.
Sex crimes accusations are taken very seriously, and the consequences associated with a conviction are much too severe to ignore. While the majority of these cases boil down to one person’s word against the other, it is best to be proactive and not reactive, which means you must get legal help in order to develop the best defense strategy.
One of the first steps any person accused of sexual battery, assault or any other sex crime should take is to contact a Tampa Bay Criminal Defense Lawyer at Whittel & Melton. When we say these charges are serious, we mean it. A mere accusation of any misconduct may immediately impact your job, reputation and personal relationships.
At Whittel & Melton, we are strongly committed to protecting your rights in Tampa and throughout the state of Florida. To learn more about how we may be able to help you, please call us today for a confidential consultation at 727-823-0000 or contact us online.
