A Miami, Florida woman was arrested Friday after she gave an undercover Collier County, Florida sheriff’s deputy an unlicensed “soft tissue” massage using body lotion. She was arrested and charged with misdemeanor prostitution and felony fraud for misrepresenting herself as a masseur.
According to the arrest report, the deputy and the 28-year-old woman met at a Naples hotel around 4 p.m. The woman allegedly agreed to partake in sexual relations with the man for an hour for $200.
The woman is neither a licensed escort nor a licensed masseuse in the state of Florida.
Arrests for prostitution or solicitation occur every day as a result of the increased amount of illegal sexual services for hire in the state of Florida. In all of Florida’s cities and counties, law enforcement agents have been able to make numerous arrests in undercover operations using a variety of methods such as sting operations, prostitution ring breakups and through web sites offering sex.
In sting operations, undercover officers pose as prostitutes wearing provocative clothing to lure would-be customers off the streets and into a bedroom in a hotel or residence. In prostitution ring breakups, the opposite of a sting operation is performed where undercover law enforcement agents pretend to be an interested “John” seeking sex from a roadside prostitute, supposed masseur or personal escort. Once inside the designated location and the organizations have been determined as fraudulent, officers will make arrests. There are numerous amounts of online sites that advertise companionship as a cover up for prostitution. Police officers can pose as potential customers and can determine which ones are illegal and make prostitution arrests accordingly. Even personal profile ads online are under tough scrutiny for suspicious illegal activity.
