Two Tampa Bay Area Residents Arrested for Prostitution in Kissimmee Tourist District

Kissimmee, FL – A suspected pimp and prostitute from the Tampa Bay area were arrested by Osceola County deputies after they came to the Kissimmee tourist district and allegedly posted an online ad for sex in exchange for money.

Undercover deputies apparently responded to the alleged advertisement posted by a 20-year-old New Port Richey woman and a 22-year-old Tampa man and a meeting was arranged at a Holiday Inn on U.S. Highway 192 in Kissimmee.

Reports indicate that the woman told an undercover deputy that the man was her pimp. However, the woman told reporters that she was not forced into prostitution by the man and that he is her boyfriend. She claims that the two were in a bind and needed money.

The pair was arrested Friday. The woman was charged with prostitution and the man was charged with deriving support from prostitution, renting a space used for prostitution and forcing or coercing another to become a prostitute.

It is important to understand that no matter the severity of charges, it is entirely possible to beat a prostitution case. Undercover detectives often troll the Internet looking for classified ads that are believed to promote sex in exchange for money. They look at sites such as Craigslist and BackPage in the hopes of finding anything they deem as suspicious activity. They will then arrange a meeting location and arrest those present, even if nothing illegal actually occurred.
