A Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested Monday for allegedly letting a suspected drug offender avoid new charges — but only after she gave him oral sex, according to reports.
The alleged incident apparently all started at a gas station. The deputy was speaking with a woman and apparently learned that she did not have a valid driver’s license, was in possession of marijuana and had prescription medication that did not belong to her. Records indicate that she mentioned to the officer that she was also on probation.
The woman allegedly offered money to the officer in exchange for him not arresting her, but he would not accept the bribe. Instead, he followed her back to her home, where the woman let him inside the home and allegedly offered oral sex.
The woman claims that the officer said he had never done anything like that before, but let it happen. The woman told police that when the deputy left, he told her not to tell anybody what happened.
The woman apparently told her boyfriend about the alleged incident, who then relayed the story to policy, triggering an investigation.
The deputy is now facing felony charges for unlawful compensation or reward for official behavior and is on suspension without pay.
Sexually-based offenses are among the most serious charges any criminal defendant can face. In addition to potential lengthy prison sentences, defendants also face the possibility of lifetime registration as a sex offender, which means anyone can identify that status online.
If you are being accused of a sex crime, you should obtain a sex crimes defense attorney immediately. Do not try to talk to police, prosecutors or your accuser before seeking legal help. Speaking to anyone without appropriate legal representation could result in you making incriminating statements that can be used against you later.
If you are accused of committing a sex crime anywhere in the state of Florida, a Broward County Sex Crimes Defense Lawyer at Whittel & Melton can help you establish a powerful defense in an attempt to combat these heinous allegations.
