Polk County Deputy Charged with Sexual Battery

A longtime 39-year-old Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested on charges of sexual battery and false imprisonment Friday.

The alleged victim is a deputy sheriff trainee.

As described by PCSO, a deputy trainee met the man in Lakeland on Wednesday for help with the training. While the trainee was sitting down, the man allegedly reached under the trainee’s shorts and underwear and fondled him.

According to reports, the trainee resisted and the man pushed him against a wall and turned the lights off. The alleged victim claims the man let him go.

Allegations were made Thursday and an investigation began that ended with the man’s Friday arrest and resignation after 19 years with PCSO.

The man posted $30,000 bond Saturday.
