Ex-Middle School Teacher Arrested for Sex Crime

A former middle school teacher in Brandon was arrested on Monday night on allegations he gave a student a smart phone to send sexually explicit materials.

The 31-year-old former teacher was charged with lewd and lascivious conduct with a juvenile.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the man gave a female student a smart phone and requested that she have sexual communications with other students, including sending nude pictures.

The man allegedly asked the student to take sexually explicit pictures and video of herself in sexual situations, deputies said.

The man was a middle school teacher during the second semester of the 2015-2016 school year.

In May 2016, school officials learned of the allegations and contacted the Sheriff’s Office. After deputies began an investigation, the man resigned from his position at the school.

During the investigation, detectives seized the cell phone.

The man was arrested at his home Monday night.
