Rape Charges Dropped Against Broward County Probation Officer

A probation officer accused of raping a Coral Springs woman has been cleared of all charges.

The man apparently had sex with the woman, but proving rape was impossible, according to prosecutors, after a video surfaced showing the woman on a bed, without pants, instructing the man on how to sexually favor her.

One week before the man was set to go to trial on two counts of sexual battery by coercion, state prosecutors announced in court Wednesday morning that the charges had been dropped.

A probation officer with an unblemished 20 years of experience, the man lost his job with the Florida Department of Corrections the day after his March 2015 arrest.

The man supervised the woman, who is in her 40s and from Jamaica, after she served 27 months for defrauding a woman in her 90’s of $341,000 and trafficking in oxycodone, according to reports.

The woman apparently gave police a used condom, along with video and photos of the man naked and putting on the condom.

In a sworn statement, the woman said that during a visit to her Coral Springs home, the man blocked her from leaving her bedroom and touched her genitals.

During a follow-up visit, the woman claims the man followed her to her bedroom and asked for a massage. When she declined, she said that the man disrobed and asked her to perform oral sex. She alleges he pulled down his pants, put on a condom, pushed her onto the bed and raped her.
