Pasco County Man Accused of Molesting Boy in Church Parking Lot

Deputies allege that a 65-year-old Holiday man molested an 11-year-old boy in a Pasco County church parking lot.

The man is accused of luring the boy from a service at Calvary Baptist Church in Holiday, to his car with the promise of a gift, according to the arrest affidavit.

According to investigators, the man sat in his car and had the boy lean over his body to reach for the supposed gift on the passenger’s side floorboard. The boy told investigators that the man grabbed him around the waist to hug him, then squeezed his buttock with his left hand.

The boy also apparently told investigators the man kissed him on the forehead, right cheek and right ear and bit down gently on his right ear.

Detectives claim they interviewed the man at his home and he admitted to telling the boy he had a gift for him in his car, to hugging him and squeezing his buttock and kissing him on the cheek and ear.

The man was charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 12 and luring or enticing a child.

The man is the adult Sunday school teacher at the church. His wife used to work as a secretary there as well.

Deputies said the man was convicted of lewd and lascivious molestation in 1990. However, reports indicate that because laws were different, the man was not required to register as a sex offender.

Any person convicted of lewd or lascivious molestation will be declared either a sexual offender or sexual predator and be forced to comply with sexual offender/predator registration laws in Florida and throughout the United States.

If you are accused of a sex crime, you have the right to remain silent, and you should talk with an experienced criminal defense attorney before making any statements to police. It is strongly recommended to retain a criminal defense lawyer before speaking to police about anything.
