Belleview police took a 35-year-old man into custody Tuesday after he allegedly had sex with a 13-year-old girl.

On Oct. 2, authorities were apparently alerted that the minor was having sex with the man. The girl was interviewed and allegedly told a detective that she had engaged in sexual activity with the man in addition to performing a sexual act on him in a wooded area near her home.

The man denied having sex with the girl. A detective claims he did admit to having a sex act performed on him, but was told by the girl that she was 18 or 19.

He was charged with sexual battery and transported to the Marion County Jail.

According to court records, the man was adjudicated guilty for battery in April and placed on probation.
