Alachua County Man Accused of Having Sex with Minor

A High Springs man was charged Friday with having sex with a minor, according to an arrest report by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.

The 23-year-old man was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving a person age 12 to 16.

The report alleges that the man and the 15-year-old girl attend the same church and began texting each other more than a month ago.

When the girl’s mother learned she was sneaking out at night, she apparently asked if she had sex with the man. The girl told her mother she had engaged in sexual relations with the man on multiple occasions, according to reports.

During an interview with ASO, the girl denied having sex with the man but did admit sneaking out. She said she told the man her age, the report states.

Once questioned, the man allegedly told deputies he had sex with the girl Oct. 2 but did not know her age.
